Rocket League - Rocket League has had tremendous success ever since it launched, but it shows no signs of stopping if 2017 is anything to go by. Not only has it got a thriving esports scene, with the Rocket League Championship Series concluding Season 4 most recently, but the game even launched on Nintendo Switch for fans to engage in acrobatic vehicular football on the go. New content is consistently added to the game too, and so it's no wonder why it's still got a very loyal following worldwide.

Hearthstone - Expansions are often the key to keeping games going in the long run, and nowhere is this clearer than with Blizzard's collectible card game Hearthstone. With Journey to Un'Goro; Knights of the Frozen Throne; and Kobolds and Catacombs all bringing swathes of new content every four months or so, fans have consistently received more story and cards to get excited about. It's another game with a thriving esports scene as well, so if you're not playing you still have a lot to be watching.

Battlefield 1 - Battlefield 1 received an incredibly positive reception when it released at the backend of last year, but since then it has received even more expansions, bringing other WWI global superpowers into the mix, including new armies and maps to assault, some of which even took place at night. With tests taking place for a new focused 5v5 Incursions mode this year as well, it looks as if there's plenty more to be excited about if you're a fan of Dice's shooter.

Rainbow Six: Siege - Rainbow Six: Siege didn't have the best start in life, but this has been changing ever since thanks to the committed support of Ubisoft Montreal. Their plans to grow the game include a roadmap of new content each year, and in 2017 alone we got eight new Operators and three news maps, all of which changed the meta dramatically. What's more is that Operation Health was also launched this year as well, aiming to update the game and ensure it's long-term success as a competitive shooter. Siege is here to stay then, and with the roadmap for 2018 already revealed, it doesn't look like this is changing anytime soon.

Overwatch - It should be no surprise that Blizzard's Overwatch is on this list. The phenomenally popular game has been bolstered throughout the year with new heroes like Doomfist, Moira, and Orisa, not to mention new maps, but Blizzard has also worked hard to update and balance the game as time went on, making sure that heroes all felt satisfying to play as. This even included a total rework of Mercy. What with a united Overwatch League coming on the esports side of things next year, which we got a taste of in preseason this month, there's that to be hyped for as well.
