Daybreak Games and Twin Galaxies have announced their partnership to form the H1Z1 Pro League, with the latter using their Pro League Division to help establish this new competition.

"The goal of the league is to create a sustainable esports ecosystem in partnership with teams for the benefit of H1Z1 players, viewers, and League partners," the press release says. This includes a 'player-first' approach with guaranteed minimum salary for players, representation of owners and players on the governance committee, a Player Bill of Rights, and clear revenue-sharing plans, all of which will be implemented in the first season, coming early next year.

"H1Z1 burst on to the esports scene with its first Battle Royale tournament over two years ago and has continued to serve the community with events like the H1Z1 Invitational, Elites Series at DreamHack, and the primetime broadcast of Fight for The Crown on The CW Network. Our goal with the H1Z1 Pro League is to create a world-class experience worthy of our incredibly competitive community," said Anthony Castoro, H1Z1 General Manager at Daybreak Games. "We chose to partner with Twin Galaxies because they bring a unique and compelling vision for how H1Z1 can reshape the world of professional esports, and they share our core value of putting players first."

In terms of format, 15 teams of five players will battle it out in live 75-person matches, with two 10-week rounds of the tournament taking place. This will then culminate in championship finals in late 2018, and the whole thing will be overseen by the governance committee.

There won't be fees or buy-in costs for the league either, but instead teams will be selected through an application process beginning this autumn. Teams will then be announced early next year, just before the league's starts, and if teams are interested they can learn more at a league briefing at TwitchCon on October 20.
