We caught up with co-producers Fabien Demeulenaere and Philipp Döschl to take about how it came to be that there's a new Monster World game in development.
Originally the game was called Flying Hamster II, and while inspired by the Monster World games it wasn't actually tied to the franchise.
"It's been too long since we've seen a new Monster World game and we decided first to create something close to the Monster World universe," says Demeulenaere of how it all began. "And after that we decided to contact Mr. Nishizawa, and Mr. Nishizawa is the guy behind all the Wonder Boy and Monster World games in the 80s and 90s. And he supported our project so we decided to jump in and say 'let's do the next Monster World game'."
The is currently scheduled for release in early 2017 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Further platforms could be possible (as hinted in the interview), but depends on the success of the game.
