A post on the Total War forums has revealed that Wargaming, Sega and Creative Assembly have formed a partnership that will see Wargaming Alliance publish Total War: Arena.

Wargaming Alliance is a new publishing label by Wargaming and "is dedicated to providing third-party publishers and developers the tools, resources and platform to enter the highly competitive free-to-play gaming market along with access to Wargaming's substantial subscriber base of over 100 million gamers," according to the forum post.

Total War: Arena will mix both the strategic style of the Total War series with 10v10 player battles, and all parties involved hope that the combination of Creative Assembly and Wargaming's talents will help make the game the best it can be.

In the forum post they also answered some key questions, the first of which regarding why Arena is being published by Wargaming Alliance and not Sega, and the response was: "We are very proud of Arena and the unique multiplayer battle experience it offers. The Closed testing last year confirmed the significant potential Arena has. The publishing deal with Wargaming opens the game up to a huge, brand new community and is a strong fit with the game."

They also answer the question of how the game has changed. "While the core mechanics remain the same, following user tests and working closely with Wargaming the game's balance, user interface and more have been redesigned and rebuilt to provide players with a better experience. In the time to come, we'll be providing insight on the various changes we've made."

In other Total War news, Creative Assembly has also brought Rome: Total War to the iPad, allowing you to control an army on the move and "without compromise".

How do you think this new partnership will influence Total War: Arena?
