When Nintendo revealed The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's season pass they didn't exactly share too many details about what the two expansions would include, but they have made up for that now.

The Master Trials expansion's hard mode will make the game more challenging by raising the ranks of enemies (the example they use is changing Red Bokoblins into Blue Bokoblins), implementing higher-ranking enemies, making it tougher to sneak up on them, and even letting enemies regenerate health over time. Obviously, there will be some extra goodies while playing on hard as well. There will be balloons floating in the air carrying planks with treasures and enemies on them. Nintendo doesn't want to say anything about what treasures awaits by defeating the enemies, but we hope it'll be worth fighting up in the sky.

It'll also be easier to see where you've been and go back to your favourite places. One of the chests in the world will now contain something called Travel Medallion. This will let us create a temporary travel point right where we stand. The only downside is that we'll only have one, so we'll still have to navigate most of the map the old fashioned way.

Speaking of navigating, the expansion will include a new function called Hero's Path. This tracks every step we take and marks it in green on the map. A function that might come in handy when trying to find every corner of the world. You don't have to be afraid of the tracks disappearing either, as the function shows the the last 200 hours of footsteps.

The promised "Cave of Trials challenge" has now changed its name to Trial of the Sword. This is a horde-like mode where we'll start without any gear, and have to fight our way through 45 waves of enemies. Sounds challenging, but the reward seems to justify the great feat. Completing Trial of the Sword will awaken the Master Sword, and thereby making it fully charged forever.

As if that wasn't enough, we'll also be able to find some new gear. There will be eight new treasure chests hidden in the world, each containing themed gear based on previous Zelda games. They've only revealed four of them so far: Majora's Mask, Midna's Helmet, Tingle's Outfit, and Phantom Armor.

Another chest will contain the Korok Mask. This mask will vibrate when one of the 900 sneaky creatures are nearby.

That's all they've told us, so we still don't know the specific launch date. All we know is that it'll be released "this summer", so expect more specifics fairly soon.

Which part of the expansion sounds most exciting to you?
