Detroit: Become Human is the next project in the works from Fahrenheit and Heavy Rain creator David Cage, so it's sure to be a rollercoaster of emotions. At E3 we had the chance to have a quick chat with the man himself about his upcoming neo-noir thriller, and what the game is centred around.

In Detroit: Become Human, there's three playable android characters: Kara, who Cage describes as a fugitive who wants to escape in order to be free; Connor, the deviant hunter, who chases other androids and helps humans; and Markus, the leader of the android resistance, the one trying to create the revolution.

During our talk Cage touched on the themes the game explores, going into detail about how the humans react to the android rebellion.

"We believe that in the near future we'll have a very ambiguous relationship with technology," Cage said. "Of course we become more and more dependent on technology. It's impossible today to imagine living without computers and phones and all the technology around us, but in the near future this technology is going to take our jobs.

"We worked very hard on imagining in a very realistic way what the future will be for us, and we looked at different researchers, and we found some of them saying that maybe unemployment rates will raise up to 30-35%, just because we'll replace human beings with machines every time we can.

"They're never tired, they never complain, they're never sick, they can work 24 hours a day, so we why use a human when you could have a machine? I think this is going to be a very interesting topic in the near future, and this is something we want to touch on with Detroit."

Cage went on to say that Detroit isn't set in the far future, he imagines it being around 20 years from now and they "didn't want to invent anything" and the game isn't science fiction, it's very much what Cage and the rest of Quantic Dream imagine the future could be like.

Which character are you most looking forward to playing as in Detroit? Let us know in the comments and check out the full interview with David Cage below.
