Ark: Survival Evolved is heading out into the wide world on August 8, when it will land fully crafted on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. During our E3 interview, Studio Wildcard's Jesse Rapczak had plenty to tell us about the upcoming launch, but he also hinted at what's the come afterwards.
"We've got a lot more stuff planned," Rapczak teased. "We have expansion packs lined up, along the size of Scorched Earth, with new map, new gamepaly. There's two of those coming. We'll talk more about that after launch."
Rapczak then went on to outline the new content that will be part of the launch day version of the game:
"We're also holding back some exciting content for launch day too. It's hard to hold back anything, but the endgame content that we know a lot of people are really excited about, about what the arks are, what's the story behind the game, what's all this craziness going on, is really going to come at launch, and we're excited for that to be released so players can get that sort of last bit. So many things to be excited about with the August 8th date."
Then the man from Studio Wildcard heaved under the pressure of our questioning and told us a little bit about what we can expect from future expansions:
"Each expansion will be as unique as Scorched Earth was from the base game. It's not just going to be like a new type of map with different temperature settings and creatures. We like to introduce all-new game mechanics.
"One of the expansions we're working on really changes the way you play the game fundamentally, and it'll be very exciting, all the creatures in that expansion, and the gameplay mechanics, the new engrams, a lot of the ways that players will be interacting with the creatures and the map and the structures will be fundamentally different from both the base game and Scorched Earth. So players will have a lot to look forward to."
