Vampires aren't always bad in Vampyr

Some are out to do you harm, and some are there to help.

As you may expect with Dontnod's Vampyr, vampires are a key part of the game, and when we talked to lead level designer Florent Guillaume we asked whether they would always be a threat, or whether they'd be helpful to you.

"So you will encounter vampires in the game, obviously," he said. "You're one of them. So some of them are friends, you will meet some friend vampires who will help you throughout your quest and your adventure, and you will also find enemies. And there [are] not only vampires - the game is supernatural, [a] fantastic part of the game. There are humans facing you, they are vampire hunters [...] trying to clean the city of this beast."

Guillaume also told us about the vampiric enemies that are more like beasts, in the sense that they come from a degenerated blood and don't disguise with humans as well as you do (people don't recognise you as a vampire for instance). "We have a lot of variety of enemies. We have equal vampiric enemies and human enemies," he added.

REVIEW. Written by Jon Newcombe

"We expect that genre fans will appreciate what it tries to achieve, however, a wider audience is unlikely to find much to sink their teeth into."
