Blizzard wants to emulate WoW raid feeling in Hearthstone

Knights of the Frozen Throne is the latest expansion to hit Hearthstone, and introduces 135 new cards, including the new Hero type of card and a new keyword; Lifesteal. There's also a few new solo missions to take on featuring the legendary Warcraft boss The Lich King, and that, along with fireside gatherings, was the topic of our conversation with executive producer Hamilton Chu and art director Ben Thompson at Gamescom this year.

"What a great social experience it is to be sitting in a room with 10, 20, 50 people, all playing Hearthstone together and kind of vibing on it. Especially because we thought of The Lich King and Ice Crown Citadel, and our fond memories of storming the gates with our raid groups. Just the idea of "okay, can we make that feeling come across?" That definitely lead to the idea of the raid as you know about it."
