The next big launch on the Nintendo Switch is Pokkén Tournament DX, the complete and improved version of the fighting game developed by Katsuhiro Harada and the Tekken Team for the Wii U. As Nintendo did with the Deluxe version of Mario Kart 8, this is more than just a re-release with 1080p output and portable mode. These new features are highlighted in the trailer you can see below.

Five more fighting pokémon are there to be selected. Decidueye is completely new, whereas Dakrai, Empoleon, Croagunk, and Scizor are derived from the arcade version of the game. Furthermore, Litten and Popplio join as support pokémon.

3vs3 team battle is a new mode. Make a team and defeat the opponents one by one yourself, since this is not a co-op multiplayer mode. What you can do on the Switch is create online groups with friends and compete via rankings.

Exclusive functions include the option to replay videos to watch anytime moving the camera angle and search for replays online, the daily challenges for rewards and the new control scheme for one Joy-Con.

Pokkén Tournament DX

REVIEW. Written by Graham Bellars

"It's a good port of a good fighter, expanding on what has come before at the same time as utilising the versatility of the Switch."
