But "reviews" on Steam aren't very positive.

In case you missed it, Call of Duty: WWII's open PC beta launched in the early hours of today. Players are invited to try out up to four maps (Pointe du Hoc, Aachen, Gibraltar and the Ardennes Forest) and experience different game modes like Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed and War Mode. As players level up they are awarded additional weapons, score-streaks and equipment. Five different Divisions (that's what the classes are called here) are available to play and the best part of it: You can play all of this for free right now.

However, most players on Steam aren't particularly pleased with Activision's latest WWII shooter. Participants of the beta can for whatever reason review the game in its current state and share mostly negative impressions of the yet unreleased action game. Some people complain about the few customisation options or the amount of actual content shown while different players dislike the current PC performance and raise concerns.

The good news is, of course, that there's time to address much of this still, at least when it comes to performance and matchmaking.

Have you tried the open beta and if so what did you think?

REVIEW. Written by Ford James

"The campaign is phenomenal, and the Zombies mode is probably the best it's ever been."
