Thronebreaker is the single-player portion of CD Projekt Red's Witcher-inspired card game, and in a recent chat with principal writer Jakub Szamalek we asked him about what this entails, and it's got plenty to offer.
"Well Thronebreaker is a single-player campaign tailored for Gwent, so you're basically using the card game mechanic as a foundation for a bigger story, a bigger game," he explained. "So on top of the card game that you know from the multiplayer Gwent, there's five maps to explore, interactive, fully-voiced dialogues with a branching storyline which is the size of the Hearts of Stone expansion for the Witcher, so it's a pretty big chunk of The Witcher story, so we highly encourage this to anyone, both to fans of the multiplayer Gwent and of the Witcher series."
Does this sound like something Gwent fans can enjoy as much as the multiplayer portion?
