Although PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has become very popular around the world, it seems that its spread might be at risk in China. Through a press release from the China Audio and Video and Numeral Publishing Association (as reported by MMOculture), we learn that Bluehole Studio's game is likely to be banned in China for its content that is considered violent and immoral according to local regulation.

The government, in fact, compares the content of the game with the fights between Gladiators in the arenas of Ancient Rome, and the goal of the survival of a single individual, the heart of the game, is contrary to the moral principles of the Chinese Republic. Also, this may negatively affect the mental and physical health of young people. As a result, the organisation recommends all local development studios not to work on battle royale games, and to avoid promoting these content in esport competitions or live streams.

The future of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is therefore uncertain and such news is undoubtedly an important letdown for the studio.
