At BlizzCon this past weekend an Overwatch Archive panel took place, during which the development team talking about a number of things, including a concept they had for an MMO by the name of Crossworlds, as reported by PC Gamer.

Game director Jeff Kaplan explained that the team had six weeks to come up with a new game concept after their previous game Titan (which Blizzard has talked about in the past) was cancelled, and they then explored a new IP which became the concept Crossworlds.

"Basically, the idea was that there was a remote outpost planet in the universe [that] was the crossroads of the universe and all different alien races would end up on the same planet," Kaplan said. "The game that we were talking about making was an MMO and it was going to be class-based. We were exploring between six and nine classes for the game."

Class designer Geoff Goodman also says that he pushed the team to get 50 classes made for the game, "each [of which] is very focused and has a certain set of abilities and they could all be wildly different from one another".

Some ideas managed to carry over, such as Reaper and 'Jumper', which later turned out to be Tracer. Do you like the idea for Crossworlds based on what you've heard?
