The Wall Street Journal (article behind a pay-wall) reports that Nintendo are once again set to up the production of their highly popular Switch console during fiscal 2019 (beginning April 2018). Nintendo now hopes to ship 25 to 30 million units between April 2018 and the end of March 2019. As many as 2.5 million units per month in other words, up from the current pace of around 2 million.

With 17 million units expected to have shipped by the end of March, this will put the total tally of shipped Nintendo Switch units by April 2019 at 42 to 47 million, a far cry from the paltry 14 million units Wii U shifted.

Do you think Nintendo will be able to sell this many consoles to consumers or are they overestimating continued demand?
