Swedish studio Resolution Games was founded back in 2015 by industry veteran Tommy Palm (perhaps best known for his time at King as "game guru" bringing Candy Crush Saga to mobile). Today, they've began work on their fourth title Narrows, following Solitaire Jester, Bait! and Wonderglade. With a focus on mobile VR and the casual space, Resolution first found success with Bait! a casual fishing game with 2 million downloads to date on Gear VR and Daydream. Next up for Bait! is Arctic fishing and Oculus Rift with Facebook Spaces.

We had a chat with producer Gustav Stenmark about Bait! and what's coming up:

Perhaps even more interesting is the studio's largest project to date, the pirate-themed Narrows, that will offer a bit deeper gameplay while keeping things accessible per the studio creed. We had a chat with CTO Martin Wilcans about Narrows (what little he could say) and the state of mobile VR.

"Narrows is our most ambitious project this far," says Vilcans. "It's a little more advanced game, it demands a little bit more from players compared to our earlier games and it's a game set in the golden age of piracy. So you're travelling around with a pirate ship in the Caribbean and exploring."

Narrows is coming to Google's Daydream platform, but on the horizon there are more advancements coming to the mobile VR space, Vilcans looks forward to a mix of AR/VR in the future, better inputs, but what has him the most excited right now is positional tracking.

"The positional tracking is really interesting, says Vilcans. "To get that into mobile devices. It's very interesting because that increases the immersion and also we hope to see better inputs. Input has been the big problem in VR this far, because it has been pretty limited, even on desktop VR the input is still a bit limited. We would like to be able to use your hands instead of a controller for example."

Bait! is available now on Gear VR and Daydream and is coming to Facebook Spaces and Oculus Rift soon. Narrows is scheduled for release next year on Daydream.
