Valve has made it possible for Dutch Dota 2 players to take a look inside loot boxes before they actually buy them. The developer made these changes in response to possible prosecution by the Dutch Gaming Authority, which declared loot boxes in Dota 2 as gambling, a decision that potentially carries a huge fine.

Dutch players in Dota 2 see now the rewards each loot box contains (spotted by Reddit user Larhf), but if that loot isn't of any use to you, as far as we understand it, you still have to buy it to unlock the next loot box and get a peek inside that one. Basically, the unknown element shifts from the loot box you're about to buy, to the loot box after that. Also, the player can not buy multiple loot boxes at the same time and Valve has also removed the opening animation.

Earlier this month Valve already disabled loot boxes in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive for Dutch and Belgian players.
