Physical releases aren't going away anytime soon, but it is, of course, important that all players get games at the same time to avoid online spoilers and perhaps more importantly unfair competitive advantages for those breaking street dates. Nintendo recently changed their logistical strategy in terms of when they are sending out copies of their games.

According to GamesIndustry the Japanese company will deliver retail stocks much closer to the release from now on. The reason behind this development is to ensure people did not get their hands on unreleased games earlier than intended, as was the case with Super Mario Odyssey.

In most cases, this won't be an issue for urban regions with fast delivery systems, but people living in rural areas may have to wait a day longer to experience the latest games. Furthermore, Nintendo's decision could make it harder to compete for small retailers compared bigger retail chains with their service terms.

Do you still prefer physical games over digital ones?
