As one or two of you may have noticed in the last few weeks, that has been a bit of commotion surrounding the implementation of loot crates in Star Wars Battlefront II. As EA and DICE look to put out all of the fires associated with the way the game has been monetised, updates are rolling out which they hope will appease players.

The first season of DLC content is about to arrive, and that has been supported by an update that is out now and includes some tweaks to the progression system that should see players earning XP at a much faster rate. All players, particularly those who top the leaderboards after a match, will now get more credits upon the completion of each game. Similarly, the credit cap on Arcade mode has been increased to 1500 credits a day. Finally, daily crates will now offer up more crafting parts, which should also speed things up a little.

It's the season of new content surrounding The Last Jedi that is perhaps most interesting. Finn and Captain Phasma are both set to make an appearance as the First Order and the Resistance square off in time for the upcoming cinematic release. There'll be boots on the ground combat in the salt-covered planet of Crait, and players will be taking to the skies in D-Qar. Finally, the single-player campaign is getting new content starring leading lady Iden Versio, set against the backdrop of the First Order's rise to prominence.

Players will be able to align themselves with either faction from today, while online and single-player content will drop on December 13.

REVIEW. Written by Mike Holmes

"It never gets boring watching Yoda rip through enemy lines with his lightning-quick lightsaber (as long as he's on your side, of course)."
