It's not exactly a surprise given the reports of a highly successful Black Friday for Nintendo. But the milestone of ten million units sold since its launch on March 3 this year is nonetheless impressive.
It took the PS4 roughly the same time to reach the milestone, but then Sony's console launch in November and benefitted (although limited supplies negate this to some degree) from a full holiday season in its first nine months on the market.
The ten million milestone is often seen as an important one and the faster it is reached the better the prospects are for a long and successful life cycle. Great games and a product that fits the needs of today's gamers seem to have been key in the early life of the Switch.
