Unless you lived under a rock during the last two months, you'll know something about the lootbox controversy surrounding Electonic Arts and, more specifically, Star Wars Battlefront II. Something that has had an effect on sales and revenue and forced the publisher to revise its projections.
Although the controversy hs undoubtedly had a negative effect on EA's performance, Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter is convinced that this is only a temporary situation and that, after the storm, DICE's action game could see better days. Speaking with CNBC, Pachter said:
"Although Star Wars Battlefront II had a weaker-than-expected debut in terms of its domestic physical sell-through, we believe that the loyalty of the Star Wars fan base, the game's appeal as a holiday gift, and the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi on December 15 will result in sales of the game bouncing back in the December retail month".
It remains to be seen if Pachter's forecasts will prove to be reliable. Star Wars Battlefront II is now available for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and you can read our review here.
Do you think Star Wars bounced back during December?
Thanks, GamingBolt.
