Aaron Greenberg already teased the latest NPD Group data one week ago, but now the information is official, and it reveals impressive hardware sales for Nintendo in the US. According to estimates, Nintendo has sold 2.6 million hardware units in December alone, split between the Switch (1.5 million), Nintendo 3DS (750k million), and SNES Classic Edition (350k units approximately).
Switch sales are still pretty damn impressive, but even more surprising is the great performance on Nintendo's 3DS handheld. When considered against the official data that Nintendo has offered in the past, the 3DS enjoyed its best sales since December 2014 and is showing a significant increase of about 27% compared to last year's Christmas sales.
Furthermore, seven Nintendo games are highlighted in the Top 20 software charts for December. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (5), Super Mario Odyssey (9), and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (10) all made the top 10 in NPD's software chart for the entirety of 2017.
