Yesterday, game industry legend Phil Harrison, announced on Twitter that he was relocating to California due to a new job position. The former Microsoft corporate vice president and executive vice president of Sony (who has also been a non-executive director of Atari) wrote:

Excited to be able to share that today I've started a new role as Vice President and GM of Google - and relocating (back) to California.

There has been no official statement about the hire from Google, which suggests there is some secrecy surrounding his new position. We think it's safe to assume that he will be working on something new and exciting, like a new game project. Why else would Google hire such a game industry heavyweight?

Harrison's experienced in coordinating game studios and developing strategies for gaming platforms, so maybe that's what he'll be doing for Google. But we also know Google has been investing in an augmented reality platform called ARcore, and Harrison has often expressed his enthusiasm for augmented reality...

It's all conjecture and assumptions at this point, but it will be very interesting to see what Google does next!

What do you think Phil Harrison will do at Google?
